Dear Melina; Better Be Careful

Dear Melina,

I am 31 yrs old and have been married seven years. I have three lovely children and husband who likes to stay home when he is not at work and tinker and play with the children. A year and a half ago I met a man who is one year younger than me

He is not that good looking or the type to impress women. He is one of thousands of men but he has this raw masculinity about him and a charisma and that draws me to him. What has happened to me Melina? He is in my brain and I can not get thoughts of him out of my head!

We have had a couple of deep and meaningful conversations and many normal ones. I do not know how he feels about me, he possibly doesn't think of me at all in the way I think about him. But I get the craziest urges to go where I know he will be, etc. But I have enough will power not to.

I have tried hard to rid myself of this but just can not. I have never been like this with anyone else before, thinking of this man and wanting him. How can I rid myself of these obsessive thoughts?

My husband is all anyone could want. I have been brought up to do only the right things. I keep trying to switch this focus back to my husband but am finding it hard. I have lost sleep, lost weight, lost appetite. I am a wreck.

I have never as much as touched this man's hand yet I would love to be held by him. Maybe I'm going crazy or something. Have you any advice for me, as to how I can cast this man from my thoughts?

'A'

Answer...

Hello dear heart.

Sometimes the most level-headed people have these fixations or obsessions. Perhaps you've even seen the tragic side of this in the doomed marriages that men and women run into under the spell of these delusions.

That being said, I'm glad you have the sense to diagnose your own case, and the willpower not to give 'way' to it. That also says a lot about your character, lovely.

Now, I'm almost certain that if you left your husband for this man you'd be full of regrets. At least this was the experience of an acquaintance of mine who worshiped a man from afar, and was finally living with her charmer, and couldn't stand him!

With your home, your husband and children, it would be better to be careful, and wise not to lose them, or to break up your marriage and family.

My advice is for you now is to get your mind on something else, and remain a feminine woman with integrity.

A creative feminine hobby or two will give you an emotional outlet. Things like painting, or language lessons, or poetry writing, can have a powerful therapeutic effect on that affliction you now have.

Furthermore, start trying to bring the intimacy, romance and excitement back into your marriage. You'll find many hints on this blog for doing that, and many women have shared their success stories with me after doing so. *Smile*

I wish you all the very best in your endeavors.

Much love,

Melina xxx
